A practical guide to auto-scheduler for shift managers. Try the playground without an account, then set up company info, staff, schedule settings, wishes, and run optimization—with links to key account areas.
auto-scheduler is a cloud service that solves staff shift scheduling: it finds assignments that respect required headcount per time slot, individual availability, labor rules (on paid plans), fairness, and—where possible—shift preferences.
It fits hospitals, clinics, retail, hospitality, contact centers, and any team that plans shifts on a calendar—not generic “file processing.”
Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆ (beginner-friendly)
The fastest way to understand the product is the Playground:
Open the Playground from your locale path, for example: English Playground or /ja/playground for Japanese.
Enter time-slot needs, each person’s available slots, then run optimization. When the engine finishes, you’ll get one optimized assignment to review, adjust if needed, and confirm.
To save history, staff, and use the full account app:
/signup/auth (add your locale prefix, e.g. /ja/signup/auth).You’ll use the account dashboard for ongoing scheduling work.
Under Schedule settings (/account/schedule-settings), define defaults that match your operation: planning horizon, time granularity (free tier is typically hourly; paid plans can use 15-minute slots), and other options your organization needs. Exact labels follow the live UI.
This step aligns the optimizer with your rules before you build rosters and runs.
Staff (/account/staff) is where you maintain people who can be scheduled: names, IDs, and the availability pattern the engine uses.
If your process includes preferences (days off, desired shifts), use Weekly shift wish (/account/shift-wish) so wishes can feed into planning where your configuration allows.
Depending on your workflow:
/account/shift-schedule) — create conditions and run the optimizer for upcoming periods. Paid plans may offer month-level and two-week detailed horizons and extra options (labor-law compliance, fairness, preference weighting, emergency shift flows, etc.—per your subscription)./account/shift-feasibility) — check whether a scenario is workable under constraints.Free tier reminder: optimization runs are rate-limited (for example, a small number of runs per hour—see pricing and in-app messaging). Paid plans use notification-style completion (e.g. webhook) rather than playground-style polling.
Open Shift schedule (/account/shift-schedule) to review assignments. Export options (such as Excel / PDF / PNG) depend on your plan; the UI shows what is available.
Use history under shift planning where applicable to revisit past runs.
| Area | Playground | Free plan (signed in) | Paid |

| Horizon / granularity | Short trial window, hourly | e.g. up to 1 week, hourly | Longer horizons, 15 min slots, options |

Limits can change—always trust the pricing page and in-app copy.
